[Worlds 2020] Team Liquid qualifies for the Worlds group stage

Team Liquid becomes the second team to qualify for the World Championship Group Stage from the Play-Ins after placing first in Group A with their defeat of Legacy Esports in a final tiebreaker match. With that victory, the Play-Ins Group Stage has concluded, and the Knockout Stage will commence with the third and fourth seeds from each group battling in a best of five series. The winners will then face the second seed from the opposite group to determine the final two teams that advance to the Worlds Group Stage.

The final placements for Group A were: Team Liquid, Legacy Esports, SuperMassive, MAD Lions, INTZ. For Group B, they were: PSG Talon, Unicorns Of Love, Rainbow7, LGD, V3 Esports. INTZ and V3 Esports are knocked out, Liquid and PSG have qualified, and the rest are waiting to battle it out on the Rift for their chance to continue their journey.

Due to NA already having TSM and FlyQuest in the Group Stage, Team Liquid can slot into two possible groups: Group A and Group B. Group A consists of G2 Esports, Suning, and Machi Esports. Group B has DAMWON Gaming, JD Gaming, and Rogue. With both JD Gaming and DAMWON on the shortlist for Worlds winners, Group A would definitely be the preference.

PSG can slot into any group other than Group A, since Machi is the only other PCS team at Worlds. Group C consists of Team SoloMid, Fnatic, and Gen.G. Group D has Top Esports, DRX, and FlyQuest.

The teams will be drawn into their groups after the conclusion of the Play-In Knockout Stage, and their potential groups will be affected by what other teams qualify with them. Catch the rest of the action at lolesports.com.
