This is the full text of Super Evil Megacorp's 21/2/2017 press release.

Super Evil Megacorp, creators of Vainglory, the world’s leading mobile esport, welcomes one of North America’s top esports organizations, Misfits, into the Vainglory competitive community. Team Misfits, in partnership with NBA franchise the Miami HEAT, joins Vainglory with the acquisition of Fates Zero, one of the top competitive teams with a spot in the Vainglory 8.

Team Misfits will debut its newly acquired Vainglory team at the Vainglory Preseason Invitational, held at Super Evil’s San Mateo Lair on February 26 at 11:00 AM PT. The Invitational will be broadcast live on twitch.tv/vainglory, and will pit Team Misfits against Fnatic, Echo Fox, NRG, Rogue and Immortals, all of which recently announced new Vainglory teams. The Invitational will mark the first time the new six teams will face each other in Vainglory.  Vainglory’s Spring Season kicks off on March 11, and this pre-season event promises to be a taste of the intense year of Vainglory esports to come.

“Fates Zero is one of the leading Vainglory teams in North America, and we’re happy to see them continue to compete at the highest level under an established esports organization like Team Misfits,” said Kristian Segerstrale, CEO of Super Evil Megacorp. “The Vainglory competitive scene has grown immensely in the past year and with the addition of Misfits, the level of play has never been as intense and demanded as much skill.  Vainglory’s Spring Season will be the most competitive season to date.”

Misfits was founded by Ben Spoont together with Syfy Channel founders Laurie Silvers and Mitchell Rubenstein in 2016. The team recently announced a strategic partnership with the Miami HEAT to assist with all duties including marketing, branding, promotion, retail, digital and sponsorship activation on behalf of the franchise. The Misfits organization owns teams that compete in League of Legends, Counterstrike, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, as well as participating in Super Smash Bros and now Vainglory.  Misfits’ Vainglory team (formerly Fates Zero) is made up of Alexander “Eeko” Mier, Emmanuel “IllesT” Miguel and Stephan “Exhail” Nalbandyan.

"We are excited to enter Vainglory, the leading mobile esport." said Misfits CEO and Co-Founder Ben Spoont, together with EVP/CMO Michael McCullough for the Miami HEAT.  "What attracted us to it was not only being on the frontier of mobile esports, but having the ability to closely work together with a forward-thinking game developer to really create a sustainable ecosystem for all stakeholders from the beginning. Super Evil Megacorp is really committed to working together with orgs and players to accomplish this goal.”

The acquisition of Fates Zero by Misfits is the latest in a slew of high profile professional teams to join the Halcyon Fold, including Fnatic, Echo Fox, NRG, Rogue and Immortals. These teams join a competitive Vainglory roster that already includes household names such as TSM, Cloud9, G2 Esports, SK Gaming, Team Secret, mousesports and DetonatioN Gaming and more.

Vainglory generated incredible growth in 2016 in terms of active players, esports views and overall community engagement. Vainglory tripled its active player community on Android, generated more than 450 million minutes of competition watched on streaming platforms and celebrated its first-ever World Championship tournament at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, which garnered more than 25,000 concurrent viewers from fans watching at home. Vainglory is forging the path for mobile games as they shift from short-session, standalone gaming toward deep, shared experiences.
