The LCS changes schedule for Summer Split, moves Monday Night League to Fridays

Riot Games has made a few adjustments to the schedule of the League of Legends Championship Series' Summer Split schedule. After reviewing the viewership results of the LCS' Spring Split this year, a few changes are being made to improve the viewership experience and storyline telling.

Though the LCS is still confident that a three-day broadcast schedule each week is optimal for the league, the Monday Night League project comes to an end. What first was a desert after a weekend of competition will now be the appetizer for the weekend to come in the shape of Friday Night League. Hosted by Gabriella "LeTigress" Devia-Allen, Friday Night League will test new segments and flesh out the storylines to follow during the week.

LCS Academy matches will also take place on a different day. They'll now kick off the long weekend of League of Legends action with five games being played on Thursday. On Fridays, before Friday Night League, five more Academy matches will be played simultaneously during Academy Rush. As soon as the restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic loose and it's safe to return to the LCS Studios, Academy teams will be able to play on-stage on Saturdays and Sundays.
