In 2002, a photo surfaced on the internet of a LAN Party that featured one of the pictured gamers playing Counter-Strike while being duct-taped to the ceiling. 'Internet Legends: Duct-Tape Gamer' is an upcoming documentary that will focus on the surrounding context of the infamous photo, and is set for release in 2020.

The documentary will explore the gamers pictured, including the suspended Drew Purvis, as well as the entirety of the LAN party where the photo, among others, was taken by Brian Schaeffer. In exploring the entirety of the LAN Party that became the birthplace of the iconic photo, longtime gamers will enjoy a stroll down memory lane before broadband internet brought the multiplayer experience fully online.

Internet Legends: Duct-Tape Gamer will feature standard documentary-style interviews with those involved in the LAN party, as well as sampled dialogue from Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' film franchise. A trailer for the documentary has been released on youtube.

In 2017, Kotaku did a massive feature in commemoration of the photo, which was the first deep dive into the context of the gamer duct-taped to the cieling. What is pictured is actually the second attempt to duct-tape Purvis to the ceiling beam with the accompanying pillows under his torso, as the first attempt did not include pillows and only lasted ten minutes until the duct tape began cutting into Purvis.

Competitive gaming has come a long way in the last 18 years, and 'Internet Legends: Duct-Tape Gamer' should make for a fun stroll down memory lane for veteran PC gamers and esports competitors.
