World of Warcraft raises over $2.5 million with an adorable kitty

Blizzard Entertainment announced that they have raised over $2.5 million in support of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, within just a month following their reveal of this year's charity pet, Mischief.

Annual charity drives through the selling of vanity pets for World of Warcraft has been an yearly tradition for Blizzard. Last year, 'Brightpaw' raised over $1.7 million for the Make-a-Wish Foundation; In 2014, 'Argi' raised over $1.9 million to support the Red Cross for their Ebola relief efforts in Africa; In 2013, 'Alterac Brew Pup' raised $1 million for the Make-a-Wish foundation; In 2012, 'Cinder Kitten' raised more than $2.3 million to support the American Red Cross for their Hurricane Sandy relief effort; the list of charity drives goes on.

Every year, the charity drive starts in December and lasts throughout the month, and all of the revenue from the pet sales during that month is donated to a good cause. For this year, players raised over $2.5 million for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to "grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions throughout the world."

Fans of World of Warcraft should be busy due to the latest expansion - ‘Legion’ - that brought a new class, new weapons, new gameplay mechanics, and new areas. However, if you’ve bought Mischief during the charity drive, feel free to take a short break in order to adore the dubious and maniacal kitty, and feel proud of yourself for helping a noble cause.
