Hélio Campos, Director of Trade and Investment at AICEP Portugal Global, announced on his social media on the 21st that he had visited the Pearl Abyss headquarters for a meeting. Officials from the AICEP Seoul office also accompanied him during the visit.

Director Campos stated, "The visit to the Pearl Abyss headquarters served as confirmation that Portugal's creative and technological capabilities continue to gain attention in Korea," adding, "Through this meeting, we confirmed the rising status of Portugal in the fields of technology and creativity, as well as the high potential for deeper cooperation with Korea's dynamic gaming ecosystem."

He continued, "As we continue to build a foundation for meaningful cooperation between Portugal and Korea, I look forward to this visit leading to positive progress in the future," noting that "such exchanges are valuable not only for the present but also for the opportunities they will create in the future."

Director Campos also previously disclosed that he visited the KRAFTON headquarters in Seoul on the 15th to meet with their investment team. At that time, he mentioned KRAFTON's Porto studio in Portugal and stated that "various exchanges and partnerships will unfold within the coming months."

With a national investment promotion agency reaching out to major Korean game companies in quick succession, observers suggest that the Portuguese government is making a concerted effort to expand cooperation with the Korean gaming industry.

AICEP is a public agency responsible for supporting the exports and international expansion of Portuguese companies, as well as attracting domestic and foreign investment; it is the Portuguese equivalent of Korea's KOTRA.
