'Pokémon Champions,' a new title centered on Pokémon battles, launched on the Nintendo Switch on April 8. The mobile versions for iOS and Android are scheduled for release this summer.
Pokémon Champions is a title specialized for battles, allowing players to enjoy deeper Pokémon combat by utilizing new elements such as Pokémon types, type matchups, and move selection to secure victory. True to its catchphrase, 'Pokémon battles for everyone,' the game is available for free.

As a battle-focused title, it offers various online battle modes. Ranked Battles allow players to compete against trainers of similar skill levels, with ranks fluctuating based on wins and losses. Players can compete in both Single and Double Battle formats against trainers globally to climb the seasonal rankings. At the Master Ball Tier, the competition shifts to a rating-based ranking system.
Casual Battles offer a lighter experience where wins and losses are not recorded and ranks remain unaffected. Players can also enjoy Private Battles by sharing room IDs with family and friends, or participate in online tournaments that follow specific rules for limited periods.

Information regarding Ranked Battle seasons, regulations, and online tournaments will be updated on the official website. To mark the launch, the 'Ranked Battle Season M-1' will run from April 8 to May 13, with the Champion and Master Ball tiers opening on April 15, one week after the season begins. This season uses 'Regulation M-A.
The 'Warm-up Challenge' online tournament will also be held until April 13. It features Double Battles using Regulation M-A; when the total time limit is reached, the match ends, and the winner is determined based on the number of remaining Pokémon and their HP. Participants who compete in at least three matches will receive Gardevoir and 100 Fast Coupons as a participation reward.

To engage in battles, players must select six Pokémon from their boxes to form a team. Multiple teams can be created, and players choose which team to use before being matched with an opponent. Before the battle begins, both players reveal their team members and select which Pokémon to send into the fray.
Once a battle starts, players can swap Pokémon or use Mega Evolution to power up. The first player to reduce all of the opponent's Pokémon to 0 HP wins. Matches are available in Single Battle (1v1) and Double Battle (2v2) formats. Winning battles rewards players with VP, which can be used for various purposes such as recruiting or training Pokémon.

Pokémon for battle can be acquired through scouting or by linking with Pokémon HOME. Within Pokémon Champions, players can use the scouting feature to obtain Pokémon; this can be used for free once every 22 hours, allowing players to choose one Pokémon from a random selection. Additionally, players can use Pokémon HOME to bring Pokémon caught in other titles into Pokémon Champions.
Pokémon can be easily trained to suit a player's preferences. This includes adjusting moves, stat bonuses, abilities, and ability points, allowing for the testing of various tactics. Furthermore, players can use VP in the shop to purchase Pokémon items and Mega Stones, or acquire player outfits, makeup, throwing styles, and battle music.
