Netmarble has released a major content update for dark fantasy MMORPG RAVEN2, adding a new region called the Walthen Empire alongside a slate of limited-time in-game events. According to a release, the update introduced a new story chapter centred on the fallen empire, which was once described as a dominant power on the western continent before collapsing through ‘twisted faith’.
The Walthen Empire contains four areas — Rinevita, Sigrund, Erenpard and Ratzbet — and a total of 14 hunting grounds. Players who cleared the previous Lungard region were able to access the new content immediately.
The update also added a new field boss, Vargas the Burning Hatred. According to the release, players who defeated the boss could earn several rewards, including the exclusive Heavenstone ‘Giant Smash’.
RAVEN2 update included summon events and new progression systems
To mark the launch of the new region, Netmarble rolled out several in-game events scheduled to run until April 22nd. According to the release, the [Walthen] Imperial Gift 14-Day Check-In Event offered up to 110 summon scrolls, while the [Walthen] Empire Summon Mission Event awarded items such as a Radiant Rare Heavenstone Chest for completing missions.
Other themed events also granted ‘Remnant of Light’, which could be exchanged for rewards including Heroic Heavenstone Abrasive, a Radiant Rare Heavenstone Chest and a Heroic Crafting Blueprint. Alongside the event content, the company also introduced a new growth system called Weapon Resonance.
The March update followed RAVEN2’s February introduction of its limited-time ‘BURNING’ boost server, which was designed to speed up character progression. According to the release, players on the server could earn levelling rewards such as Heroic Holy Garment, Familiar and Equipment items, in addition to special level reward chests.
Upon reaching level 60, players were said to receive a Legendary Holy Garment, alongside boosted experience points, gold and stat bonuses, before transferring to existing servers after the event period ended.
RAVEN2 is the sequel to Raven, also known as EvilBane: The Iron King. In the game, players take on the role of members of the Special Corps, investigating dangerous incidents under royal orders while progressing through a dark fantasy world. The update marked Netmarble’s latest effort to expand RAVEN2 following the game’s recent progression-focused server rollout and broader live-service content strategy.
