KT Kiin: "It’s been a long time since I’ve played on a stage outside of LoL Park. I want to play without regrets."

On Apr. 2, in the 2023 LCK Spring Split playoffs, KT Rolster defeated Hanwha Life Esports 3-1 and advanced to the finals decider match. They will face Gen.G next week on Saturday, Apr. 8. The winner of the finals decider will advance to the finals to face T1. KT Rolster had a great performance at the end of the season throughout the playoffs, and it proved that taking T1 to game 5 wasn’t just a coincidence by dominating Hanwha Life Esports today. After the match, coach Choi “supreme” Seung-min and top laner Kim “Kiin” Gi-in joined the media for an interview.

How do you feel about today’s win?

supreme: I’m happy that we won. We’ll show a good performance in Jamsil as well.

Kiin: It’s been a while since I played in a different place from LoL Park. I’ll do my best and prepare well.

What was satisfying and disappointing about today’s match?

supreme: In all situations, the players made the best decisions. On the other hand, our draft wasn’t that good, and the tempo of the game was too slow.

Kiin: For me, getting solo killed in game 3 was disappointing. Other than that, making mistakes in teamfights was regretful.

You’ll be facing Gen.G now. If you win, you have to face T1 the next day.

supreme: It’s the first time we’re playing in two best-of series in two days. I believe the fundamentals will be really important.

Kiin: All we can do is prepare well in general, from the draft to making plays.

Why did you pick Ryze today?

Kiin: I’ve always been confident in playing Ryze, so I thought we could pick him whenever the situation was right. In that game, it was a great pick, so we picked him.

Did Hirai say anything before the match?

supreme: Although he isn’t well, Hirai came to the arena today. He said many things that were helpful to our plays and teamwork.

How do you think the match against Gen.G will go?

Kiin: We beat both Liiv SANDBOX and Hanwha Life Esports 3-1, and I think it’ll be the same against Gen.G. All roles will be important in that match.

supreme: All lanes are important, but since Gen.G’s mid-jungle duo is strong, I think the mid-jungle fights will be key.

(To Kiin) Although everyone knows you’re a great player, it’s been a long time since you’ve been on a big stage. How confident are you?

Kiin: I’m always confident about my capabilities at the beginning of the season, but my confidence usually decreases as the season goes on and we have bad results. Since we’re doing great right now, I’m very confident.

Any last comments?

supreme: Some of the players don’t have much experience on a big stage, but I’ll make sure to prepare well and show a great performance.

Kiin: As I said, it’s been a long time since I’ve played on a stage outside of LoL Park. I want to play without regrets.
