Fitting for a roster hailed as the world's best, it was an undefeated golden run. The South Korean national LoL team successfully claimed the gold medal.
On October 2, South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the esports LoL finals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Aichi Sky Expo in Japan to take the gold medal. This marks their second consecutive gold medal following the previous Hangzhou Asian Games.
With "Zeka" Kim Geon-woo starting as the mid laner for the finals, South Korea set out on their gold medal hunt with a roster of "Zeus" Choi Woo-je, "Canyon" Kim Geon-bu, "Zeka", "Gumayusi" Lee Min-hyeong, and "Keria" Ryu Min-seok. Games 1 and 2 were both comeback victories for South Korea. Although they had to play with their balance shaken by Chinese Taipei's sharp early bot-lane plays, they orchestrated comebacks through superior individual mechanics and macro play.
Heading into Game 3, South Korea drafted a composition of Shen, Naafiri, Syndra, Kog'Maw, and Lulu. Chinese Taipei responded with K'Sante, Kha'Zix, Viktor, Lucian, and Milio. With both sides building well-balanced team comps across tanks and damage dealers, a direct clash was set in motion.
Unlike the previous two games, South Korea enjoyed a much smoother start in Game 3. They smoothly dodged a bot-lane gank from "JunJia" on Kha'Zix to progress comfortably through the laning phase while unilaterally stacking dragons. "Canyon" on Naafiri ambushed "1Jiang" on K'Sante in a side lane for a kill, while Kha'Zix, who attempted to target "Zeka" on Syndra, was caught in South Korea's counter-attack.
While the gold lead was not massive, momentum was entirely in South Korea's favor. Pressuring the tier-two mid tower ahead of securing the Cloud Soul, South Korea caught Kha'Zix attempting a flank, initiating a teamfight that resulted in an Ace. South Korea secured both the Soul and Baron Nashor.
Empowered by the Baron buff, South Korea pressured both mid and bottom lanes simultaneously, destroying two inhibitors. Just before the Elder Dragon spawned, Syndra assassinated Kha'Zix, allowing South Korea to take the Elder Dragon completely uncontested. Pushing forward immediately, South Korea secured another Ace and destroyed the Nexus, sealing the gold medal victory.
