UPDATE Jan. 14: Cloud9 have made an announcement regarding the current situation with their LCS roster a few hours before the start of the 2022 LCS Lock In. LS, Summit, and Berserker will not be able to arrive in LA until February, so Malice and Winsome will be staying in Korea with them so they are able to scrim in January. Assistant coach Max Waldo will be stepping in as interim head coach for the Lock In, and was the member of the C9 staff to make the roster announcement on Twitter.

As a result, only Fudge and Blaber will be intended starters on Cloud9's Lock In roster. The other roles will be filled by C9 Academy top laner Darshan, AD carry Zven, and support Isles.

Original story:

Cloud9 have completed their 2022 LCS starting roster, but the five players will not be unified when the season kicks off with the LCS Lock-in on January 14. Head coach Nick "LS" De Cesare stated on a recent stream that he and top laner Park 'Summit' Woo-tae, AD carry Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol, and support Kim "Winsome" Dong-keon would not be joining the team in North America until February.

As a result of visa issues, LS, Summit, Berserker, Winsome, Cloud9 Academy jungler Sebastian "Malice" Edholm, and the rest of C9's staff in South Korea will not be in Los Angeles, CA for the 2022 LCS Lock-in when it begins, as stated by LS on his stream on January 3. LS and Winsome are both US citizens, so their respective visa issues may be different from those native to South Korea like Summit and Berserker, but no further details have been revealed.

The stream took place one day after Summit did a guess stream on LS' account and an announced personally that he would be missing the LCS Lock-in, but LS' followup stream is the first mention of multiple members of Cloud9 missing the tournament.  The 2022 LCS Lock-in kicks off on January 14 and ends on January 30, with the Spring Split starting the following week on February 5.

The news is an undeniable setback for a C9 roster who, with three players crossing the Pacific Ocean for the first time in their professional careers and two of those three players making their major region debuts, already had their work cut out for them in terms of developing synergy with mainstay jungler Robert "Blaber" Huang and recent top-lane-to-mid-lane convert Ibrahim "Fudge" Allami.

Likelihood points towards Cloud9 Academy support and LCS sixth-man Jonah "Isles"Rosario starting in place of Winsome, and C9 Academy AD carry Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen will most likely reprise his role from 2021 in lieu of Berserker's absence.

C9 Academy top laner Darshan "Darshan" Upadhyaya has multiple seasons worth of LCS experience, and may be the obvious choice to start in the top lane for Cloud9 during the Lock-in.
