Riot Games announced the launch of Season 1 for 2XKO on Tuesday, marking the competitive fighter’s first full seasonal rollout since its reveal. Built on the League of Legends universe, the free-to-play title reimagines familiar champions for a tag-based fighting game format across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Season 1 is the first of three planned seasons scheduled for 2026. Over the year, Riot plans to add five new champions, rotate ranked ladders with seasonal resets, and introduce battle passes tied to cosmetic rewards. The update also brings multiple new skin lines, including Arcade, Bee!, and Heartseeker, alongside avatar items, stickers, and Chroma Squad cosmetics included in the Season 1 pass.
The headline addition is Caitlyn, a long-range specialist whose kit is designed around space control and trap placement. In 2XKO, she uses rifle-based projectiles to pressure opponents from afar while managing reload timing through hextech-infused ammunition. Her ultimate, Ace in the Hole, features an explosive snare round that sets up a follow-up shot intended to close out rounds when properly timed.

Riot is also tying Caitlyn’s release to a regional PC bang promotion in South Korea. Through Feb. 17, players who use Caitlyn once per day at participating internet cafés can earn mobile PC bang coupons valued at 2,000 points, up to three times per account. Additional rewards, including a convenience store voucher and eligibility for a controller giveaway, are available to players who try Caitlyn at any location.

Beyond content updates, Riot reiterated its commitment to the fighting game community. The company plans to support approximately 20 officially sanctioned tournaments in 2026, including major events such as Frosty Faustings and Genesis X3. A portion of revenue from the new esports-themed Frame Perfect skin line will be allocated to community support initiatives, particularly for tournament organizers.
