KRAFTON has released a new teaser trailer for PUBG: Black Budget, offering the clearest look yet at its upcoming extraction shooter ahead of a scheduled Closed Alpha test later this week.
The trailer emphasizes a slower, more suspense-driven experience than traditional battle royale gameplay, highlighting close-quarters environments, limited information, and high-stakes encounters. While KRAFTON has not detailed all of the game’s systems, the footage suggests a focus on tactical movement, survival decision-making, and the tension that comes with entering and exiting hostile zones with valuable gear.
The Closed Alpha is set to begin Friday, Dec. 12, and will run across two weekends. Testing will take place from Friday through Sunday each week, giving players multiple opportunities to try the game in a limited capacity. Access to the Closed Alpha is restricted, with participation available by invitation.
PUBG: Black Budget is positioned as a spin-off within the PUBG universe rather than a direct continuation of PUBG: Battlegrounds. KRAFTON has previously signaled interest in expanding the franchise beyond battle royale, and the extraction shooter format aligns with a broader industry trend toward high-risk, session-based multiplayer experiences.
Closed Alpha details and regional availability
According to KRAFTON, the Closed Alpha will be split into two test periods. The first runs from Dec. 12 at 1 a.m. PST through Dec. 14 at 11:59 p.m. PST. The second session begins Dec. 19 at 1 a.m. PST and concludes Dec. 21 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Both sessions will be available to players in North America, Europe, and Asia.
The test will support four languages: English, Korean, Chinese, and Russian. Gameplay during the alpha will be limited to a first-person perspective only, with no third-person option available. KRAFTON has not confirmed whether additional modes or perspectives will be added in future tests or at launch.
While the teaser does not include a release window, the Closed Alpha is expected to help the developer gather early feedback on core mechanics, balance, and performance. KRAFTON has not announced when a broader beta or public test might take place.
