London-based publisher Curve Games and developer Turtle Juice have announced MECHBORN, a new roguelike deckbuilder that blends visual and thematic influences from 1990s mech anime with elements of Greek mythology. The game is slated to launch in late 2026 on PC and consoles, with a pre-alpha demo currently available on Itch.io.
Set in a world under siege by recurring kaiju attacks, MECHBORN places players in the role of elite pilots created by an organization known as TITANCORE. These pilots undergo a synchronization process with their mechs, forming the backbone of both the game’s narrative and its mechanical hook. Rather than managing a traditional deck of abstract cards, players construct their decks by assembling mech parts, with each component adding new abilities and interactions.

At the center of MECHBORN’s design is a “Conveyor Belt” card system that replaces the standard hand-based structure common to the genre. Players maintain a rotating lineup of cards, with each card played immediately replaced by another. According to the developers, this system is intended to emphasize positioning, timing, and long-term planning over incremental optimization.
The game also introduces multiple pilots, each with distinct abilities and narrative backgrounds. Combining pilots with different mech builds can unlock additional synergies, encouraging experimentation across runs. Exploration takes place across three continents, with players free to choose their routes rather than following fixed paths. Resource management plays a role as well, with limited fuel acting as a constraint that can end a run if mismanaged.
Lead designer Ernani Rocha said the team aimed to rethink moment-to-moment decision-making in deckbuilders by forcing players to adapt continuously as their available options shift. The result, according to Rocha, is a system that rewards foresight and creative sequencing.
MECHBORN is planned for release on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch platforms. A trailer showcasing early gameplay and combat systems is now available, and a pre-alpha demo went live on Itch.io on Jan. 21.
