Behaviour Interactive has announced a new crossover for its long-running asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight, bringing back Netflix’s Stranger Things in a follow-up chapter that adds new characters, cosmetics, and a returning Hawkins setting. Revealed out of Montréal on Jan. 6, 2025, the update is available now through the Steam Public Test Build, with a full release planned for Jan. 27.
The new content arrives as Stranger Things concludes its television run, extending the franchise’s universe into The Entity’s Realm. The original Stranger Things chapter, released in 2019, became one of Dead by Daylight’s most recognizable collaborations, pairing survivors Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington against the Demogorgon inside a recreation of Hawkins National Laboratory. Behaviour says the renewed partnership builds on that foundation as the connection between the Upside Down and The Fog deepens with fresh characters and gameplay twists.

Chapter 2 adds three major additions to the roster, led by Vecna — also known as “The First” — who joins the game as its newest Killer. According to Behaviour’s description, Vecna can manipulate the environment and channel the Upside Down through ranged and area-control abilities, with environmental cues such as ominous clock chimes signaling danger to nearby Survivors.
On the Survivor side, Jane “Eleven” Hopper and Dustin Henderson enter the Trials alongside returning characters Nancy and Steve. Each Survivor brings new perks meant to reflect their roles in the series, offering different approaches to stealth, teamwork, and evasion. The update also features multiple Legendary Outfits, including Jonathan Byers from the first Stranger Things collaboration, along with new cosmetics themed around Eddie Munson and Robin Buckley.
Creative director Dave Richard said the return of Stranger Things marks an evolution of the earlier collaboration and an opportunity to continue the franchise’s story within Dead by Daylight’s world. The studio notes that the chapter is designed to appeal both to longtime players and fans of the Netflix series.
Dead by Daylight: Stranger Things Chapter 2 is currently playable through the Steam PTB and will launch across supported platforms on Jan. 27. Dead by Daylight, first released in 2016, has grown to more than 60 million players worldwide and frequently collaborates with major horror and genre franchises across film, television, and games.
