Gen.G’s Chovy Reflects on Win Over KT, Season Progress, and Maintaining Form

Following Gen.G Esports’ clean 2–0 sweep of KT Rolster in Round 3 of the 2025 LCK regular season, mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon shared his thoughts in a post-match interview, offering reflections on his performance, his 12th Player of the Match (POM) award this season, and the team’s current trajectory. With this latest win, Gen.G not only secured their 20th victory of the season but also further solidified their position as one of the league’s most consistent squads.

Chovy admitted that while he was happy with the result, the victory felt somewhat underwhelming emotionally. Coming off a string of high-stakes matches, he felt that this one lacked the same intensity and thrill. He also noted that he hadn’t taken a long break during the recent LCK hiatus—instead, he opted for a shorter rest period to maintain his physical condition and mental sharpness.

During the downtime, he stayed engaged by analyzing how other LCK teams approached skirmishes, paying close attention to player positioning and evaluating ways it could be improved. This analytical approach, he explained, helped him stay focused and refine his own gameplay during the off-week.

When asked whether he prepared differently for KT, Chovy emphasized that he doesn’t spend too much time fixating on specific opponents. His mindset is rooted in ensuring Gen.G plays to their own strengths, and if they execute well, the results will follow. He also offered a brief critique of Game 1, saying that the team could have won more easily if their execution had been cleaner early on. Still, he credited a well-played dragon fight as the key moment that allowed them to regain control and eventually turn the game around.

Chovy highlighted how Gen.G adapted their approach during teamfights, especially given their composition’s limitations. With a short-range comp, they avoided charging in headfirst. Instead, the team adjusted their positioning in real time, focusing on flanking and isolating targets rather than relying on a direct engage.

Discussing the Game 2 draft, Chovy acknowledged that while it could be seen as difficult, the match could have unfolded more smoothly. He pointed to a personal misstep during the early laning phase that prevented Gen.G from establishing dominance through mid lane, making the game harder than it needed to be. As for their plan to neutralize Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil's Ziggs, he explained that Vi and Ambessa were central to the strategy, as their ability to dive onto Ziggs applied consistent pressure and disrupted the opposing team’s rhythm.

Looking ahead to their next match against Nongshim RedForce, Chovy admitted that Gen.G still has areas to improve. He expressed a firm commitment to addressing those shortcomings, aiming to show a more polished performance in their upcoming games.
