SKT Teddy: "We still have a long way to go since we reached 6th from 9th."

On the 25th of July (KST), in the 2019 LCK Summer Split, SK Telecom T1 defeated Gen.G Esports 2-0. During the match, Park “Teddy” Jin-seong picked one of best champions, Ezreal, and dealt massive damage along the two games. Teddy sat with the media for an interview after the match.

The following is an interview with Teddy.

How do you feel on having your 6th consecutive win?

I was a bit nervous because it was an extremely important match, so I was relieved when we won 2-0.

Game 1 was so close. Can you explain a bit about the situations?

I actually don’t remember it thoroughly; I remember that I asked the others to wait a bit until my Ezreal is scaled. In the late game, we had the initiative, but we made a mistake. Fortunately, we were able to cut off CuVee’s Gangplank, and Faker made an awesome play, so we won.

Your head coach, kkOma, praises the bottom duo often.

For today’s match, we didn’t make any big mistakes. We didn’t have any super plays today, but everything went alright.

Ruler played Sona twice today. Did you see that coming?

That was a surprise. I did think that he could play, but I was never sure. Sona was nerfed a bit, but I do think she’s still a viable pick. However, it’s hard to play her. What’s most important is that you need to have a strong mentality. (Laughs)

Your next match is Griffin. How do you think it’ll go?

After watching their match today, it seemed that their performance is coming back up. We shouldn’t be too big-headed because we’re on a winning streak. As for the bottom lane, if we can just do as we did, I’m confident.

You’ve climbed up a lot from near the bottom.

It’s really amazing, but we still have a long way to go since we reached 6th from 9th. I want to end at a good rank by winning as much as we can.

Effort has been playing more often than Mata now. What’s the difference between the two?

Mata and Effort are quite different. Mata likes taking charge and Effort likes to follow up. Since we’re on a winning streak with Effort playing, I think he’s doing a good job. It was a positive change of pace for us.

Any last comments?

I feel really good that we won an important match 2-0. I’ll do my best to win all the remaining matches.
