ORIGINAL STORY

Retired Team Canada and Dallas Fuel coach Justin “Jayne” Conroy has been reported missing in his home state of Alberta, Canada. The Alberta branch of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) put out a tweet yesterday, June 22, stating that he had not been seen since June 20, and asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to get in contact with their Airdrie Detachment.

Teams from the area and names from the Overwatch scene were quick to signal boost the tweet, with the likes of the Toronto Defiant and the Vancouver Titans both quoting it in an attempt to speed the process of finding Jayne safe and well. Content creators also added their own attempts to boost the tweet, with pro wrestler and Outlaws streamer Matthew Rehwoldt among them.

Jayne was an assistant coach with the Dallas Fuel, but his greatest achievement as a coach arguably came in his time with Team Canada, who he helped to third place at the 2018 Overwatch World Cup. In that period he worked with big names from the Overwatch scene, including Lane "Surefour" Roberts and Twitch stream star Félix "xQc" Lengyel, both of whom have gone on to have successful streaming careers.

Jayne also had a successful YouTube channel, prior to taking on roles as co-head coach of Team Canada and assistant coach at Dallas Fuel, and signed a deal with Facebook gaming in the early part of 2020. This was followed by a period as a content creator with Team Envy, before he left the Overwatch scene and joined a company called Meta Group as a strategic analyst, taking his leave from the esports community.

His family have stated they are concerned for his safety, with anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Airdrie detachment of the Alberta RCMP on 403-945-7200. We will update the story as new information becomes available.
