[UPDATED 4/15] Gwen, the Hallowed Seamstress is now live

UPDATED 4/15: Gwen, the Hallowed Seamstress is now live on League of Legends. In announcing Gwen's formal arrival to Summoner's Rift, Riot Games tweeted Gwen's champion spotlight for players looking to try her out as soon as possible.

UPDATE 4/1: On Tuesday, March 30th, Riot Games published an Abilities Rundown for Gwen the Hallowed Seamstress. At the end of the post, a splash art for Gwen's Space Groove skin is included, which will be available upon the Hallowed Seamstress' release.

Original story:

Riot Games has revealed the newest champion joining the League of Legends roster. Gwen, the Hallowed Seamstress will be the 155th League of Legends champion, the first to be released since the relase of Viego, the Ruined King on January 22nd, 2021.

Riot Games first made a post featuring an animated cinematic of a doll, a seamstress, and scissors to tease Gwen to the League of Legends playerbase.  At the end of the video, a bright silhouette similar to the doll knitted by the seamstress appears.

A few hours later, another video was released, starting with a cinematic of the seamstress' scissors being pulled out of the mud of what looks like a location in the Shadow Isles. The video then cuts to a life-sized, humanoid version of the puppet brought to life wielding a giant pair of scissors all over Summoner's Rift.

Based on the copy of the tweet from the League of Legends account in the official trailer, it seems as though Gwen was somehow combined with her knitted doll, potentially through magic present in the Shadow Isles. Evil is referred to as a "he" which could refer to the Ruined King due to his prominence in the Shadow Isles, but no other information has been revealead at this time.

In the quick gameplay shots, Gwen is shown as a highly mobile melee champion, kiting and out-dueling several champions in the clips including Kha'Zix, Maokai, Hecarim and Riven.  In keeping consistent with the seamstress theme, it looks as though Gwen can utilize needles and thread in parts of her moveset as well.

Based on the initial looks at her combat effectiveness, it's hard to imagine Gwen in the bot lane. Most likely, the Hallowed Seamstress will find herself most effective in the top lane or the jungle, though specific roles or class identifications have yet to be applied to Gwen by Riot Games.
