Ornn and Skarner are finally getting new skins

Neither Ornn nor Skarner has received a new skin in multiple League of Legends seasons, but that's about to change. The latest Riot Pls included a first look at a new skin for both The Fire Below the Mountain and The Crystal Vanguard.

Since his release on August 9, 2011, Skarner has received three skins to compliment his base appearance and his Sandscourge skin, but the most recent was part of the Guardian of the Sands cosmetic line on April 26, 2015. Skarner's new skin has a sleek, almost jewel-like sheen to its gold, blue, and silver color scheme, which looks similar to the Cosmic-themed skin line.

Ornn's cosmetic options have been a long-discussed subject. Ornn was released on August 22nd, 2017 with a Thunder Lord skin alongside his base appearance, but has not received a skin since.

Other champions have gone a few years without a new cosmetic addition, but Ornn's prevalence in the competitive meta for the near-entirety of his existence since being added to the League of Legends roster has made his lack of skins hard to go un-noticed. Ornn's upcoming skin looks like it could be part of the mythical forest-themed Elderwood line.

Ornn and Skarner's new looks weren't even the biggest news Riot dropped on Wednesday morning. The first big step in the overhaul to League of Legends' shop and items was introduced in the form of Mythic items, a new type of item that will be introduced on Summoner's Rift in 2021. Riot Games will begin a testing period of Mythic items on the League of Legends PBE in the next few weeks.
