DWG ShowMaker: "We didn’t know that Team Dynamics would be this good. They’ve been a huge surprise."

On the 27th (KST), DAMWON Gaming faced off against kt Rolster in the 2020 LCK Summer split. With a set score of 2-0, DWG took down KT in a very quick manner. With explosiveness and short game time, the game was very ‘DAMWON-like’. Not only did Heo “ShowMaker” show incredible synergy with the team’s top laner, Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, he even scored a pentakill as Kassadin in game 2.

ShowMaker joined the press room for a post-match interview.

Thoughts on the victory?

I’m very happy that I get to go home so quickly.

You scored a pentakill on Kassadin in game 2.

Although it’s easy to score a pentakill on Kassadin in the latae game, I pulled it off in a very difficult situation, so it holds much meaning. I’m glad that my teammates played great as well. After I got a double kill, the enemy Kalista had little HP. Except for Kalista, all the enemy champions were very weak into Kalista, so I killed Kalista with Flash-E and knew that I was going to get a pentakill.

Your last loss against Gen.G must’ve been very disappointing to say the least.

Although we did lose via reverse sweep, watching them play today made me think that they’re a really good team. It also made me think that we lost to a very strong team, and made me focus that much harder for the next match.

DWG picked Fiddlesticks in game 1. Did the game go as the team planned?

After the Fiddlesticks rework, Canyon played him a lot in solo queue. There was a mistake made once in both top and bot, but it wasn’t a mistake that would slow down Fiddle’s growth, so the game itself was pretty straight forward.

The competition between the teams in the upper half of the standings is quite fierce already.

It’s still early in the split, so it’s hard to make any predictions. We didn’t know that Team Dynamics would be this good. They’ve been a huge surprise. I think that because they’re newcomers to LCK, they’re fearless. Not only are they good at skirmishing, since their roster consists of players with previous experiences in the LCK, they’re also good at macro. They’re a very well balanced team.

Your next match is against T1.

T1’s always good, so we’ll need to work harder than we have before.

In a scenario where winning or losing didn’t matter, which champion would you like to play?

There are a lot of fun champions, such as Katarina, AP Kog’Maw, Kayn, Vanye, and Yasuo. Although they might be fun to play for me, I think my teammates will suffer. The most fun champion to play definitely has to play Katarina.

With so many new champions being played quite frequently in the LCK, are there any other champions we can expect in the future?

Our coaching staff never spoke against doing something new, so we have a lot of cards in our sleeves.

Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say?

We’ll make sure to prepare well for the remainder of this split to definitely make it to Worlds.
