Blizzard reveals Zul’jin, new skins, and more

Earlier today, Blizzard posted a preview of the next hero to enter the Nexus, Zul’jin the Amani Warlord. The video showcased the berserker’s abilities and how they could be used.

His trait passively grants him attack speed per missing maximum health, meaning that he becomes more and more dangerous as his health goes down. This passive forces him to balance between health and damage constantly and makes him very similar to the Dota 2 hero Huskar who, ironically, had a troll berserker model in the original Warcraft 3 mod. The trait also has an active ability that grants Zul’jin additional attack damage at the cost of health per attack.

Grievous Throw, his Q ability, deals damage to the first two enemy targets in a line and marks them; when attacking marked targets, Zul’jin does significantly more damage. This ability gives him quite a bit of burst and will probably allow him to bully other heroes in lane.

Zul’jin has even more poke with his W ability Twin Cleave, which sends out axes in a wide circular arc that deals damage and slow enemies. Between the two of these abilities, he has some significant burst and can quickly turn the tide of a fight with good aim.

Despite the solid damage output, Zul’jin doesn’t look like the safest of heroes. Based on the video, his attack range seems fairly short. Coupled with his ability to inflict damage on himself with his trait, he might have a hard time keeping his health up. Luckily, he can tap into his Troll Regeneration on E to heal himself out of combat.

To facilitate an all-in style, he could pick up Taz’dingo as his Heroic and go ham for four seconds, during which he can’t die. It might also be used for clutch saves against huge burst or deletion comps. On the other hand, Guillotine provides him with a huge nuke and complements a more poke-oriented play style that utilizes Grievous Throw and Twin Cleave.

The preview also contained the newest skins in development, all of which look amazing. In addition, Zul’jin gets to ride his very own Amani War Bear into the heat of battle.

•Master Zul’jin
•Emberlord Zul’jin
•Dream Genie Chromie
•Bronze Tiger Kharazim
•Amani War Bear

Zul’jin and the newest skins are scheduled to hit the Nexus by early January. Be on the lookout for more Heroes of the Storm content over the next few weeks!
