Eight new rune words for Diablo 2: Resurrected ladder season 3

The third ladder season of Diablo 2: Resurrected opened on Feb. 16, with eight new rune words for the new season. They revealed the eight new rune words are: Bulwark, Cure, Ground, Hearth, Temper, Hustle, Mosaic, and Metamorphosis. Most of the new rune words are for more of early to mid game equipment, as most of the runes are rather easy to gain. Here are the new rune words for the third ladder season.

Bulwark

Bulwark

Shael + Io + Sol

Helm

+20% Faster Hit Recovery

+4-6% Life stolen per hit

+75-100% Enhanced Defense

+10 to Vitality

Increase Maximum Life 5%

Replenish Life +30

Damage Reduced by 7

Physical Damage Received Reduced by 10-15%

Bulwark is a helm that will be used by many, many players to equip on their mercenaries. Obviously, your go-to choice would be Andariel’s Visage or Vampire Gaze, but you can’t choose to drop those items. Every single attribute on Bulwark is great on a mercenary. It might even be used more than Tal Rasha’s Horadric Crest.

Cure

Cure

Shael + Io + Tal

Helm

Level 1 Cleansing Aura when Equipped

+20% Faster Hit Recovery

+75-100% Enhanced Defense

+10 to Vitality

Increase Maximum Life 5%

Poison Resist +40-60%

Poison Length Reduced by 50%

With the Lv. 1 Cleansing Aura added, Cure will be much more useful. Although the poison length reduction was reduced to 50%, the addition of the Cleansing Aura will improve the item overall. Cure will be selected more by Sorceresses that use Energy Shield.

Ground

Ground

Shael + Io + Ort

Helm

+20% Faster Hit Recovery

+75-100% Enhanced Defense

+10 to Vitality

Increase Maximum Life 5%

Lightning Resist +40-60%

Lightning Absorb +10-15%

Ground isn’t bad, but it isn’t great. It could be good for builds that use the lightning sundered charm, but naturally, Ground will only see some use for some characters as they progress in the early game, when they’re having a hard time against lightning monsters — perhaps against the beetles in act 2.

Hearth

Hearth

Shael + Io + Thul

Helm

+20% Faster Hit Recovery

+75-100% Enhanced Defense

+10 to Vitality

Increase Maximum Life 5%

Cold Resist +40-60%

Cold Absorb +10-15%

Cannot be Frozen

There aren’t too many monsters with frightening cold damage in Diablo 2. That being said, Hearth won’t be utilized too much. Changed from their initial reveal, Blizzard added Cannot be Frozen to Hearth. Depending on the build, there will be some characters that will utilize Hearth.

Temper

Temper

Shael + Io + Ral

Helm

+20% Faster Hit Recovery

+75-100% Enhanced Defense

+10 to Vitality

Increase Maximum Life 5%

Fire Resist +40-60%

Fire Absorb +10-15%

Another early game rune word for progress. There are plenty of fire damage monsters in Diablo 2, so some people would build Temper to get through some areas. But like the other rune words, it will be substituted fairly early.

Hustle

Hustle

Shael + Ko + Eld

Any weapon

or

any armor item

Armor:

+65% Faster Run/Walk

+40% Increased Attack Speed

+20% Faster Hit Recovery

+6 to Evade

+10 to Dexterity

50% Slower Stamina Drain

+All Resistances +10

Weapon:

5% Chance to cast level one Burst of Speed on striking

Level 1 Fanaticism Aura

+30% Increased Attack Speed

+180-200% Enhanced Damage

+75% Damage to Undead

+50 to Attack Rating against Undead

+10 to Dexterity

There have been big improvements from the initial reveal to both the armor and weapon. On the armor, Lv. 6 Evade and +10 all resistances were added. The walk/run speed was improved, and there's even extra attack speed.  It has become much more viable.

On the weapon, Lv. 9 Burst of Speed was nerfed to 1, but a Lv. 1 Fanactcism aura was added, and the enhanced damage has been improved to 180-200%, so it's less likely to be used as a swap weapon now.

Mosaic

Mosaic

Mal + Gul + Amn

Claw

+50% chance for finishing moves to not consume charges

When a finisher is executed this way, it now refreshes the expiration timer of the stack

+2 to Martial Arts (Assassin only)

+20% Increased Attack Speed

+200-250% Enhanced Damage

+20% Bonus to Attack Rating

7% Life Steal

+8-15% to Cold Skill Damage

+8-15% to Lightning Skill Damage

+8-15% to Fire Skill Damage

Prevent Monster Heal

The third rune has been changed from Thul to Amn. Accordingly, the 3-14 cold damage was deleted, and Mosaic has gained 7% life steal. Also, there is additional damage to cold, lightning, and fire skills, which is a big improvement for the item. The biggest improvement is that the chances for finishing moves to not consume charges have been upped to 50%. That means if you equip a Mosaic on each hand, you will not consume any charges.  Many Assassins will now build Mosaic.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

Io + Cham + Fal

Helm

Werewolf strikes grant Mark for 180 seconds

Mark of the Wolf:

ㄴ+30% Bonus to Attack Rating

ㄴIncrease Maximum Life 40%

Werebear strikes grant Mark for 180 seconds

Mark of the Bear:

ㄴ+25% Attack Speed

ㄴPhysical Damage Received Reduced by 20%

+25% Chance of Crushing Blow (No longer attached to the Mark of the Bear)

+5 to Shape Shifting Skills (Druid only)

+50-80% Enhanced Defense

+10 to Strength

+10 to Vitality

All Resistances +10

Cannot be Frozen

The +25% chance of Crushing Blow is no longer attached to the Mark of the Bear, so it would be used more as the main helm for shape-shifting Druids. The bonus attack rating for the Mark of the Wolf has also been improved. The stats may not be as great, but when built on a good Druid helm with proper skills, Metamorphosis could become one of the endgame equipment.
