LCS/LEC Summer Split Week 1: Best Value Picks

In order to win big in E1 Fantasy, you want to find VALUE! I’m not just talking about getting your money back, I’m talking about getting what you paid for AND some more.

What is value? Well in a perfect world, the highest-priced player at a position would score the most points and so on down; they would all provide value based on their price. We don’t want to be average though, we want more. So we are looking for the players who will score much higher than their price suggests, returning extra value.

In order to help you find these value players, we provided two options at each of the six lineup spots; one for LCS and one for LEC (because everything is better with a little NA vs EU rivalry in there).

Top

Kevin "Hauntzer" Yarnell — Golden Guardians — $190,000 (vs Dignitas & Team Liquid)

In Spring, I think we all learned a lesson on completely writing off teams too soon… Before Week 1 even kicked off, everybody put Golden Guardians in 10th. After a 9-9 record in Spring, they are still being pushed down to the bottom. Hauntzer’s price reflects this and he can easily outperform the price of the 3rd cheapest starting Top, just as GG outperformed all expectations last season.

Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu  FC Schalke 04 — $240,000 (vs Team Vitality & SK Gaming)

My brain always erupts whenever I look at a roster and see Odoamne and Abbedagge together. Just too many syllables that I end up getting them confused… Odoamne is the Top Laner that is priced outside the Top 10 at his position even though he had the 4th most Kills at his position in Spring. Ok, I’d try to remember that instead, but that is even more syllables...

Jungle

Mingyi "Spica" Lu — TSM — $220,000 (vs. Team Liquid & Dignitas)

This does not feel good to type out… Spica has only 4 pro games under his belt, only using 2 different champs in those games. However, he is in such a desirable position, being surrounded by a stacked TSM roster. If he can just avoiding flaming the game, he will get enough points to merit this price. If he can thrive, well then this will be the lowest price you will ever see on him.

Lukas "Lurox" Thoma — FC Schalke 04 — $130,000 (vs VIT & SK)

This is a perfect example of a starting player controversy working to your advantage! It wasn’t until just this week that Schalke 04 officially named their starting roster, which featured Lurox rather than Gilius, who started Week 1 of Spring. Even if Lurox underwhelms, it is pretty hard to see a world in which he fails to live up to just $130k.

Mid

Daniele "Jiizuke" di Mauro — Evil Geniuses — $260,000 (vs 100 Thieves & Counter Logic Gaming)

I love this one. Love love it. EG came into Spring with very high expectations and disappointed them all in the first half. However, they stormed back to second place in the standings on the back of the Itialian Stallion himself, Jiizuke. With the same starting roster coming into 2020, it is realistic to expect them the start the year in stride and see Jiizuke continue as their fearless leader.

Emil "Larssen" Larsson — Rogue — $280,000 (vs Excel Esports & Misfits)

Rogue wins through the mid lane. Larssen is their leader, their primary carry and the person who you can expect to lead them in points. In two rematches against teams they got the better of in Spring, this should be a great start to Larssen’s quest to repeat as a Top 3 Kills getter at his position.

Bot

Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng  — TSM  —  $280,000 (vs Team Liquid & Dignitas)

Okay, okay, settle down. Before we freak out about Doublelift being a top Bot laner again, we need to acknowledge that he was very very bad in Spring and deserved to get benched… OKAY NOW TSM DL LETS GOOOO. LAST TIME HE WAS ON TSM HE GOT MVP AND WENT 17-1. GG EZ.

Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság — MAD Lions — $310,000 (vs G2 Esports & Excel Esports)

MAD vs G2 rematch let’s go!! Crazy and his MAD Lions teammates do not fear G2 anymore after they defeated them in the Spring Playoffs. In that game, Carzzy led all fantasy scorers, even breaking his own personal records. If MAD goes 2-0 this week, it will be on Carzzy’s back.

Support

Vincent "Biofrost" Wang — TSM — $140,000 (vs Team Liquid & Dignitas)

Read above caps lock text below Doublelift. Biofrost and Doublelift have a lot of experience playing together, all of which resulted in major success. I don’t blame anybody for being hesitant to pick Doublelift after his awful Spring, but Biofrost can be a lower-risk way to still bet on the Return of 2xLift.

Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov  Fnatic — $190,000 (vs Misfits & Team Vitality)

Similar to Biofrost, Supports offer a unique cost-effective way to invest in Bot Laners that you expect to pop-off. Unsimilar to Biofrost though, Hylissang’s lane partner comes with absolutely no risk as Rekkles has never taken a break from being an absolute stud. Make sure to get the Assists on all those Kills!

Team

Golden Guardians —$220,000 (vs Dignitas & Team Liquid)

Everybody needs to stop sleeping on GG! I don’t know what else they could’ve done last split to help convince you they aren’t a 10th place team. I’m not saying they are making playoffs again, but they definitely should be fighting for a .500 record and get to face two teams that failed to hit that mark in spring.

FC Schalke 04 — $230,000 (vs Team Vitality & SK Gaming)

Let’s hope they don’t go Schalke 0 and 4 to start the season again… But I would be shocked it they did. They ended Spring with a lot of positive momentum and now get to face the two teams that are clearly the worst in the LEC. Don’t matter the opponent, wins are wins.
