Open World Action-RPG Project TAL Revealed With Official Announcement Trailer

Publisher WEMADE MAX Co. Ltd and developer MADNGINE have officially unveiled Project TAL, a new open-world action RPG inspired by traditional Korean mythology and folklore. The title is currently in development for PC and consoles, with a global release planned for 2027.

The debut trailer, released Thursday, showcases cinematic combat sequences and sweeping landscapes steeped in mythic imagery. Players will wield acrobatic maneuvers to battle massive monsters, targeting weak points and executing counterattacks in fast-paced, skill-based encounters. The footage also teases large-scale environments, hinting at an expansive world shaped by ancient legends and supernatural forces.

“Project TAL combines an emotionally resonant story about healing a wounded world with the exhilarating combat of a classic action RPG,” said Sohn Myun-seok, CEO of WEMADE MAX. “With MADNGINE’s technical expertise and artistic vision, we’re creating a AAA open-world title built to compete on a global stage.”

A New Take on Myth and Companionship

Beyond its intricate combat, Project TAL introduces a companion system designed to adapt dynamically to the player’s actions and surroundings. Each NPC ally features distinct combat roles and personalities — from shield-bearing defenders to agile magic users — allowing for real-time cooperation during intense encounters.

Moments of teamwork are emphasized throughout the trailer, such as catching a falling ally or combining attacks for devastating counterstrikes. This interplay between player and companion aims to bring emotional depth and tactical variety to every battle.

According to WEMADE MAX, the game will also include climbing mechanics that let players scale colossal monsters, a weakness exploitation system to shift the tide of combat, and intelligent NPCs capable of responding dynamically to changing battlefield conditions.

Project TAL marks the latest addition to WEMADE MAX’s growing lineup of next-generation projects, which also includes The Midnight Walkers and MIR5. Known for titles such as Night Crows and Lost Sword, the studio continues its push toward global recognition with this ambitious new IP.

Project TAL is slated for worldwide release on PC and consoles in 2027.
