OverActive Media reportedly set to rebrand Splyce to MAD Lions; bet on young talent in LEC 2020

According to a report by Spanish publication Esportmaníacos, OverActive Media will rebrand and rebuild Splyce's League of Legends team to MAD Lions ahead of the 2020 LEC Season. The roster will feature entirely young domestic talent built around Mid Laner Marek "Humanoid" Brázda, who just finished his rookie season with Splyce.

After its top 8 finish at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship, Splyce's roster has fractured. Humanoid is the only player is confirmed as returning to the roster in 2020.

Top Laner Tamás "Vizicsacsi" Kiss retired after Worlds 2019, and Jungler Andrei "Xerxe" Dragomir has joined Origen. ESPN Esports' Jacob Wolf has reported that Bot Laner Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup is set to join TSM in the LCS, and also that Support Tore "Tore" Hoel Eilertsen would be leaving Splyce for Excel Esports

According to the report by Esportmaníacos, OverActive Media is promoting Top Laner Andrei "Orome" Popa from Spanish League of Legends team MAD Lions E.C. to the MAD Lions LEC roster.

The report also claims that former mousesports Jungler Zhiqiang "Shadow" Zhao and Support Norman "Gistick" Kaiser will join the roster, and former Berlin International Gaming Bot Laner Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság will round out the LEC starting 5 for MAD Lions.

Should MAD Lions field this roster for the 2020 LEC Spring Split, it would be a contribution to a trend of LEC teams looking to rebuild around young talent.

Misfits Gaming and Team Vitality have reportedly signed young European players with development as the primary focus, in hopes of following in the footsteps of a team like 2019 Rogue, and hopefully over time, like 2019 G2 Esports.
