EU LCS banned sister teams in Summer 2017

Riot Games announced on its official website that EU LCS will not be allowed to have any sister teams at all. The new policy will be applied starting from the 2017 Summer Split.

Until now, any team could run a sister team in the Challenger Series. The only restriction was that sister teams were not allowed to stand in the Champions Series together. For example, the sister teams of both Fnatic and Misfits, Fnatic Academy and Misfits Academy, could not be promoted to the first division.

This announcement prohibited EU LCS teams from operating multiple squads. Any team with a sister team must transfer the ownership of one of the Challengers or EU LCS teams starting from the next split.
