Previously, HOTBA played for the Philadelphia Fusion, while Happy, WonJaeLee, Rio, and Chara all came from Meta Bellum, a long-standing Korean Contenders team that recently finished in the Top 4 of the tournament.

Both Eileen and OnlyWish previously competed for LGD Gaming, and nero and Shu played for the now-defunct Toronto Esports (not to be confused, of course, with Toronto Defiant). Kyb, meanwhile, recently made waves for his stellar performance during the Overwatch World Cup as a member of Team UK.

"Feels like a dream come true to play in the Overwatch league, I can't wait to show everyone what I can do," he wrote on Twitter following the Charge's roster reveal. "And thank you to [British Hurricane] and all my teammates for giving me the chance to shine and prove myself. I'll always remember my time there and I'm gonna miss everyone on the team, especially Hafficool... Go and win Season 3 [of Contenders] now!"

GZ Charge Chara celebrated the announcement on Twitter

The team is owned and operated by Nenking Group, a financial and entertainment conglomerate. Thus far, the team has yet to announce any coaching or support staff.
