Mata will part ways with kt Rolster for the upcoming Season 9. 

On the 13th of November, through their official SNS, kt Rolster announced that Mata will not be renewing his contract with the organization and that he will depart from the team as a result. "As one of the best players in the world, Mata has been with us for two years, gifting us great memories. We want to sincerely thank him and root for him wherever he heads next," they said. 

With KT, Mata had placed 3rd in the 2018 LCK Spring Split and had won the 2018 LCK Summer Split. At the 2018 League of Legends World Championship, KT reached the quarterfinals; where they eventually fell. Although the long-awaited KT Worlds run fell short, they proved their worth by taking the current World Champions, IG, to a full series. 

Known for his Thresh and smart map control, Mata is a veteran of the League of Legends esports scene. Throughout his 5-year long career, Mata has had won multiple titles -- including the World Championship title. With the lack of renowned support talent in the current free agent pool, Mata will surely catch the attention of many teams.
