SKT Thal: "I want to give myself 5 out of 10 for this season. I made too many mistakes."

On the 22nd of March (KST), in the 2018 LCK Spring Split, SKT T1 defeated MVP 2-0 and continued to compete for the playoffs. In the match, Park “Thal” Kwon-hyuk performed well in the laning and macro with Trundle in game 1. In game 2, he contributed to the team’s victory by playing Vladimir, even taking a solo kill against the opponent Gangplank.

The following is the interview with Thal.

Q. How do you feel getting the MVP?

I feel good since I contributed to the team by playing well. Frankly, I think I was good enough to get MVP in game 1 too. Anyways, Bang did well too so I’ll let that go. (Laughs) I think I really deserved to be MVP in game 2.

Q. You’re known for your Trundle, but the results weren’t that good up to now. How was it today?

On my debut, I didn’t know how to play against Ornn with Trundle. I didn’t even know if Ornn was that strong against Trundle. But today, my opponent was Cho’Gath. I played against Cho’Gath often and I was confident.

Q. You were able to survive a very dangerous moment in game 1. What did you think at that moment?

Some say that I was lucky to have survived that, but it wasn’t luck. I didn't need luck to survive.

Q. What did you focus on while preparing for the match against MVP?

There was nothing new; the practice went well so I believed that we’ll win 2-0.

Q. You must have felt a lot of pressure being in SKT T1 this season. How would you rate your debut season?

The games I played up to now and professional games are completely different. At first, I lacked a lot, but by listening closely to feedback, I developed. I want to give myself 5 out of 10 for this season. I made too many mistakes.

Q. You had a solo kill in game 2. Were you certain that you could kill him?

It was a definite kill. Even if the Gangplank didn’t go for the minion wave, it would have been his loss, so I would have benefitted anyways.

Q. There were many worries at top lane. What do you think of the negative reactions?

That really gave me a lot of stress. I’m confident to become a better player in the SKT T1 team color.

Q. SKT T1 plays Trundle more often than any other team. Is it because you’re good at him?

No, it’s not because of that. Trundle is a good champion because if he uses his ult to the opponent tank, that would be enough for one person.

Q. Who was the most impressive top laner this season?

It’s Khan, who defeated me. He’s a player I want to meet again.

Q. Any last comments?

I’m confident of delivering better performance. I’ll do my best to even get to MSI.
