Remedy Entertainment's new title, 'CONTROL Resonant,' has surpassed 1 million copies sold in approximately three weeks following its release. In an official announcement on the 15th, Remedy revealed that global cumulative sales exceeded 1 million units, marking the fastest sales pace in the studio's 31-year history.
'CONTROL Resonant' is the sequel to 'Control,' released on September 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Featuring Dylan Faden, the younger brother of the previous entry's protagonist Jesse Faden, as the main character, the story unfolds across a Manhattan caught in a paranatural crisis. It was built as an action RPG with enhanced melee combat and character progression mechanics compared to its predecessor.
This record significantly outperforms Remedy's previous record holder, 'Alan Wake 2'. Following its launch in October 2023, 'Alan Wake 2' took roughly two months to reach 1 million copies sold. 'CONTROL Resonant' shortened that window to around three weeks, cementing its place as Remedy's fastest-selling title to date.
Jean-Charles Gaudechon, CEO of Remedy, stated, "One million copies is a very strong start," while highlighting that this project represents the first game Remedy has directly self-published at this scale. He added that both existing fans and new players are coming into the 'Control' universe, confirming plans to continuously nurture both the 'Control' and 'Alan Wake' franchises moving forward.
'CONTROL Resonant' is available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with physical console releases going on sale starting October 15 following the digital launch.
