Wadiz will host its publishing and creative special exhibition, Sammu Bookstore, from October 19 to November 15. Following the previous two events, where 265 projects accumulated 4.3 billion won in total funding, this edition will reveal script books, art collections, and author sponsorship projects.
According to Wadiz, 10 of the projects participating in previous events raised over 100 million won each. In April of this year, 42% of the makers participating in Sammu Bookstore were authors launching a funding campaign on Wadiz for the first time. The company explained that the crowdfunding model, which secures demand and capital prior to production, helps reduce inventory burdens and assists creators in preparing for their next project.
Books released on the opening day, October 19, include calligraphy artist Mi-kkot's "Mi-kkot Font Master Edition" and the uncensored writer's edition script books for Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of the drama "Yumi's Cells". The Mi-kkot font project will introduce a copybook generator where users can print desired sentences in the font, along with new VOD lectures. The "Yumi's Cells" script books will feature interviews with the writer and actors.
Funding for the complete works art book of Lee Jung-seob will also begin on October 19. Wadiz introduced this art collection, which culminates 30 years of research by art historian Choi Yeol, as Korea's first complete collection of Lee Jung-seob's artwork. Commemorating the 110th anniversary of Lee Jung-seob's birth and the 70th anniversary of his passing, 1,000 copies will be produced and released exclusively on Wadiz. On October 23, the "Pak Kyong-ni X Chun Kyung-ja Toji Art Edition," commemorating the 100th anniversary of author Pak Kyong-ni's birth, will be unveiled.
Upcoming projects include the republication of cartoonist Huh Young-man's comic "Gaksital" (Bridal Mask) and Bulkwang Publishing's "Now I Understand" series. On October 30, Changbi's Hwang Sok-yong Novellas & Short Stories Edition will be presented, followed in November by the Complete Works of J.R.R. Tolkien and a Wadiz-exclusive best edition of Yu Hong-june's "My Exploration of Cultural Properties". Applications for makers to participate in Sammu Bookstore will be accepted until October 31.
Huh Ji-eun, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Wadiz, said, "A reader's desire to cherish a work becomes the driving force for an author to create their next piece. We will continue to expand our platform so that authors can consistently take on new creative challenges and readers' discoveries lead to sustained creative endeavors."
Wadiz is a crowdfunding platform company that connects the supply and demand of capital. According to the provided company description, since its founding in May 2012, it has brokered approximately 90,000 campaigns based on press materials, facilitating a cumulative funding volume of 1.5 trillion won.
