Kakao Games' new MMORPG 'World of Dokkaebi' has reached No. 1 in Google Play revenue just five days after its launch.

World of Dokkaebi topped the Google Play top-grossing game rankings on the 13th. Moving up one spot from second place the previous day, it pushed Com2uS's 'Zeus: God of Pride' and NC's 'Lineage M' into second and third place, respectively.
Signs of early success were visible even before launch. On the Apple App Store, the title reached No. 1 in popularity on the 6th when pre-downloads began, and on its official launch day, the 8th, it claimed the top popularity spot on Google Play. After dominating download charts, it has now swept revenue rankings as well.
World of Dokkaebi was developed by Supercat, the studio behind 'The Kingdom of the Winds: Yeon', and is published by Kakao Games. Kakao Games holds publishing rights for domestic and global markets excluding China. The original work is author Yeonwoo Sol's Naver web novel and webtoon 'Myeolgwi Sudojeon', with the game set approximately 300 years before the original story. Key features include 2.5D graphics combining 2D pixel characters over 3D backgrounds, as well as a deck-building system that allows players to customize combat styles by combining skills without fixed classes.
Its live service policy reflects user feedback gathered prior to release. During a live showcase stream in September, Kakao Games fielded pre-submitted questions and live Q&A, subsequently announcing that stats related to progression would not be attached to outfits or mounts. The membership subscription period was also extended from 28 days to 30 days.
This achievement comes amidst a prolonged earnings slump for the publisher. Following World of Dokkaebi, Kakao Games aims to return to profitability in Q1 of next year by sequentially introducing 'Dungeons Arise' within the year, as well as 'Odin Q: Valkyrie's Call' and 'God Save Birmingham' early next year.
