SOOP will hold the semifinals of Google Play ASL Season 22, an esports league played on StarCraft: Remastered, starting October 5 at FreecUP Studio in Daechi-dong, Seoul. The finals will take place on October 17 at 3:00 PM at the Lotte World Ice Rink in Jamsil.
ASL is an esports league played on Blizzard Entertainment's RTS game StarCraft: Remastered. The semifinals feature matchups between YoungJin (T) and Light (T), and Soma (Z) and Soulkey (Z).
The first match will be played on October 5 between YoungJin and Light. Both players play Terran and will face off in a mirror match for a spot in the finals. On October 6, last season's champion Soma will clash with four-time ASL champion Soulkey. Soma is aiming for his second consecutive title.
YoungJin and Light secured their semifinal spots first with victories in Week 1 of the quarterfinals. Soma defeated Jaedong (Z) on September 28, and Soulkey overcame Leta (T) on September 29 to complete the semifinal lineup. All four players have also secured seeds for next season.
The semifinals will be played in a single-elimination, best-of-seven format with a live audience present for all matches. The two winners will battle for the Season 22 title on October 17 on a special stage at the Lotte World Ice Rink in Jamsil.
The collaboration between official season sponsor Google Play and SOOP also continues. In September, SOOP introduced a service allowing users to exchange Google Play Points for paid platform currency, expanding their partnership from esports league sponsorship into platform services.
