The LEGO Group has partnered with Toei Animation to release its first Dragon Ball-themed set, consisting of 1,764 pieces, on November 4.
The debut product, LEGO Icons Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku (11390), recreates an iconic scene from the original series by pairing Shenron emerging from the seven Dragon Balls with a young Goku riding his Flying Nimbus.
Jaewon Lee, a Korean designer working on adult sets at the LEGO Group headquarters, also participated in its creation. Designer Lee and his team studied Shenron's poses from the original anime and used various brick assembly and design techniques to express defining features such as the curves and scales of its long body.
The young Goku minifigure placed next to Shenron can be detached or repositioned. At the base of the product, seven bricks representing the seven Dragon Balls are placed alongside a buildable display stand and a plaque featuring the Dragon Ball logo.
Federico Begher, Senior Vice President of New Businesses at the LEGO Group, stated that starting with this product, he hopes fans will experience the characters and stories of Dragon Ball in a new way through LEGO sets. Masayuki Endo, President and CEO of Toei Animation, noted that this product celebrates the original series while serving as a building block for future collections.
The LEGO Group and Toei Animation plan to continue their collaboration into 2027, bringing the action and adventure of Dragon Ball to life in LEGO bricks.
