The City of Busan and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency are accepting applications through October 7 for the 2026 Busan Mayor's Cup BRENA Best Player tournament featuring four titles, and will host the finals on October 18 at the Busan Esports Arena.
The tournament is divided into a General Division and a Corporate Division. The General Division features League of Legends, VALORANT, and Merge & Blade—a game by a local Busan developer—while the Corporate Division features StarCraft.
League of Legends and VALORANT are played in teams of five, while StarCraft is played in teams of three. Merge & Blade is an individual competition. The General Division has no separate entry restrictions, while the Corporate Division is open to teams where more than half of the members work at the same company.
Online qualifiers will take place over two days on October 10 and 11 to determine the finalist teams for League of Legends, VALORANT, and StarCraft. The offline finals will also be broadcast live on the official Busan Esports Arena YouTube channel.
The Corporate Division carries on the legacy of the Busan Corporate Esports Tournament, which launched in 2018 as the first of its kind in Korea. Through 2025, a cumulative total of 524 teams and around 1,800 players have participated.
Jong-chul Kim, president of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, stated that the agency will continue to expand opportunities for general amateur gamers and corporate employees to compete and interact. He added that by incorporating local games into event lineups, the agency aims to broaden opportunities for citizens and gamers to experience regional titles.
