South Korea's PUBG Mobile national team launched a fightback by securing a chicken dinner in the first match of Day 2 of the finals, but fell short of reaching the medal positions.
On the 29th, South Korea competed on Day 2 of the PUBG Mobile finals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at Aichi Sky Expo in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. South Korea finished the finals in 6th place with a final score of 71 points. The gold, silver, and bronze medals went to Thailand, China, and Pakistan, respectively.
The finals were held over two days with 12 nations competing in a total of 12 matches, determining final standings based on cumulative points. South Korea started off in 6th place on the first day of the finals after scoring 38 points. At the time, the gap between South Korea and 3rd-place Indonesia was 17 points.
The second day started off well. In Match 7, South Korea preemptively secured an advantageous position in the center of the zone and kept all four players alive. Staying calm through to the final moments of the match, South Korea earned 16 points—combining 6 kills and 10 placement points—to claim their first chicken dinner of the tournament.
However, the momentum of their comeback was short-lived. In Match 8, while passing near Rozhok, they came under fire from multiple directions and were eliminated early, failing to score a single point. In Match 9 as well, unable to secure an entry route and crossing paths with Vietnam, they managed to earn only 1 placement point.
South Korea mounted another push in Match 10, adding 7 points with a 4th-place finish and 3 kills. In the following Match 11, they added 5 more points with 4 kills and 1 placement point. Up to Match 11, South Korea's total stood at 67 points—1 chicken dinner, 31 placement points, and 36 kill points combined.
At the same point, Thailand led the pack with 125 points, followed by China with 97 points. Indonesia and Pakistan were tied at 93 points. The gap between 6th-place South Korea and the bronze medal position widened to 26 points. Unable to narrow the point gap significantly after that, South Korea's run came to a disappointing end.
South Korea kept their hope of a comeback alive by winning a chicken dinner in the first match of Day 2. However, scoring just 1 point across the next two matches proved to be a fatal setback. Although they fought for a turnaround until the end, they were unable to make up for the widening point gap, bringing their medal campaign to a close.
