On September 29, NEXUS passed a board resolution for a comprehensive stock exchange to incorporate ONE Store as a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary. The initiative aims to combine game distribution and payments with AI- and blockchain-based on-chain infrastructure into a single unified framework.
In June, NEXUS acquired an 89.03% stake in ONE Store from SK Square and Naver. In September, it secured additional shares held by KT and LG Uplus, raising its stake to 95.88%, and plans to acquire the remaining shares through this stock exchange.
The company plans to enhance platform competitiveness by combining ONE Store's app market and digital content distribution capabilities with its own AI and blockchain technologies and payment infrastructure. Based on this, it intends to operate game distribution, payments, and on-chain infrastructure in an integrated manner.
ONE Store is South Korea's second-largest app market by game transaction volume. On August 31, it launched 'ONE Store Global' across 122 countries, securing over 1,000 titles of content. In collaboration with Tencent, it also introduced 'ONE Play,' a mini-game service that runs without requiring separate installation.
Furthermore, it established 'AI Games,' the first dedicated category for AI-created games in an app market. In October, the category's name will change to 'AI Game,' focusing on expanding the foundation for the creation ecosystem among individual and small-scale developers.
NEXUS CEO Henry Chang said, "ONE Store is the most central piece of the large puzzle that is an AI and blockchain gaming platform." He added, "By uniting NEXUS's AI and blockchain infrastructure with ONE Store's app distribution and payment capabilities, we will complete a platform where global game distribution, payments, and on-chain infrastructure are realized within a single framework."
