On September 29, Xal'atath joined Blizzard Entertainment's Heroes of the Storm as the game's 91st hero and its first new hero in nearly six years.
First announced at BlizzCon 2026, Xal'atath is the first new hero introduced since Hogger. She was added alongside the major update Patch 57.
Xal'atath, a harbinger of the Void who was once bound to the Blade of the Black Empire, is a Ranged Assassin who wields Void power. She collects 'Soul Essence' with Basic Attacks to fire 'Void Orbs', linking 'Dark Heart' and 'Shadow Mark' to deal explosive damage to enemy Heroes. She can teleport in a triangular pattern to increase attack power, and depending on her chosen Heroic Ability, trigger a wide-area 'Void Blast' or summon 'Void Minions'.
To celebrate the new hero's release, Twitch Drops will run from September 29 at 1:00 AM KST to October 6 at 3:59 PM KST. Watching Heroes of the Storm streams for 1 hour yields 1,000 Gold; 2 hours awards an 'Epic Loot Chest'; 4 hours awards a 'Legendary Loot Chest'; and 8 hours rewards the 'Deadly Chaos Wolf' legendary mount.
