Playwith Korea announced on the 31st that it is pursuing the global expansion of its flagship intellectual property (IP), 'Seal Online,' alongside partner company Playwith Games. While developing new projects in China and Thailand, the company is also preparing for the domestic launch of the official numbered sequel, 'Seal M2.'
'Seal Online' is a cartoon-rendered MMORPG that launched in Korea in 2004. Since then, the franchise has expanded with mobile titles such as 'Seal M' and 'Seal M on CROSS.' At its shareholder meeting in the first half of 2026, Playwith Korea outlined IP expansion, development process innovation, and portfolio diversification as core strategies.
In China, Playwith Games signed a development agreement for a mobile game based on the 'Seal Online' IP with Kingnet Network. The project is currently in the final stages of development, and Playwith Korea has also signed a mobile expansion contract with Beijing Ruiwo Technology. Information on these new titles is expected to be revealed sequentially starting as early as within 2026.
In Thailand, the company signed a 'Seal' IP licensing agreement with developer MAXION Games. MAXION Games has begun development on a new title reimagining the IP, with the title expected to be unveiled as early as 2027.
Domestically, 'Seal M2' is currently under development with a target release in the fourth quarter of 2026. As an official numbered title that inherits the IP and universe of the original 'Seal Online,' 'Seal M2' is undergoing final polish following its release teaser in early August.
A representative from Playwith Korea said, "This global IP expansion will serve as an important turning point for 'Seal Online' to leap beyond its status as a long-running classic into a major global IP." They added, "Through the launch of these new global titles and the successful domestic launch of 'Seal M2,' we will secure momentum for our IP-centered business strategy."
