The Korea Association of Game Industry (Chairman Cho Young-gi, hereinafter K-GAMES) is continuing its outreach to regional game industries.
On August 21, K-GAMES hosted the "Jeonbuk Regional Game Industry On-Site Communication Exchange for Game Industry Development" at the Jeonbuk State Content Convergence Agency alongside representatives from local game companies and related organizations in Jeonbuk. This exchange marks the third regional on-site communication activity, following meetings in the Chungcheong region in April and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region in May.
The event was attended by officials from both organizations, including K-GAMES Chairman Cho Young-gi, Jeonbuk State Content Convergence Agency President Kim Seong-gyu, and ICT Convergence Headquarters Director Choi Hoon. Local game industry attendees included CEO So Yoon-il of Altoi Games, CEO Song Hyun-woo of Funwave, CEO Kim Do-hyoung of Tori Edufin, Director Kim Seong-ju of The Garam, CEO Yang Hong-min of Epix, Lead Hong Seong-young of Tundra Studio, CEO Kim Min-young of Dan-A Speech Lab, CEO Oh Won-seok of Voila Studio, and CEO Kim Myung-jun of Myosotis.
During the meeting, K-GAMES shared major policy issues in the gaming industry, while the Jeonbuk State Content Convergence Agency presented its local game industry support initiatives. Attendees then discussed challenges faced by game developers and explored support and collaboration strategies to enhance industry competitiveness.
In particular, game companies highlighted the need for comprehensive support spanning post-development stages—such as professional mentoring, overseas market validation and localization, and connections with publishers and investors—to help early-stage studios commercialize their titles and expand globally.
K-GAMES Chairman Cho Young-gi stated, "Through this exchange, we were able to hear diverse opinions from the regional game industry and share experiences and concerns". He added, "We will continue active communication to ensure these meetings do not remain one-off events, but rather lead to new collaborations and opportunities."
Kim Seong-gyu, President of the Jeonbuk State Content Convergence Agency, emphasized, "For the Jeonbuk gaming industry to achieve sustainable growth, it is crucial to go beyond discovering promising game companies and build a growth foundation that extends to market entry, investment, and global expansion". He added, "We will continuously listen to the voices of companies and the industry to enhance the competitiveness of the regional gaming ecosystem."
