Nexon's ARC Raiders will release 'Frozen Mountain Path' on October 8, the largest update since the game's launch. This massive update includes a new map, high-level content, new ARCs, and a revamped progression system.
Embark Studios announced the key content and release schedule for the 'Frozen Mountain Path' update on the official website on the 13rd. The development team previously stated in May that they would shift their update policy to focus on fewer, larger-scale updates; 'Frozen Mountain Path' is the first major release under this new operational strategy.
At the heart of the update is a new map. Players will investigate an unprecedented signal originating from beyond the mountains at the request of 'Shanny.' The setting is a frozen settlement beneath a massive mountain at the edge of the Rust Belt, an area that once housed villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory. The developers focused on creating a more vertical structure that expands opportunities for exploration and discovery, designing the area to force players to navigate between surface and underground environments while facing new threats.
A large-scale new 'ARC Operation' aimed at experienced players is also being added. This content centers on player choice, dynamic encounters, cooperation, and decision-making, requiring a balance of combat, teamwork, risk management, and survival. The developers described it as one of the most intense experiences ARC Raiders has offered to date.

The new map also introduces new 'Arcs.' Ranging from small, fast-moving enemies to massive machines, these diverse types are designed to challenge players to apply their existing movement and combat skills in new ways. The development team explained that creating a single new Arc requires months of iteration, involving initial concept design, animation, behavior modeling, and machine learning systems.
The progression system is also being expanded. Players can reside in a new space called the 'Outpost,' where they can decorate the area and research new elements. The 'Skill tree' is being adjusted to provide more options for long-term growth goals and playstyles, and the 'Raider Deck' is being improved to enhance immersion and rewards.
In addition, various other content will be added, including new weapons, gadgets, cosmetic items, and musical instruments. Improvements to matchmaking, anti-cheat measures, stability, and quality-of-life features are also planned. Embark Studios intends to release more detailed information about 'Frozen Mountain Path' throughout September.
Meanwhile, Patrick Söderlund, CEO of Nexon, noted during the Q&A session of the 2026 Q2 earnings call that ARC Raiders has exceeded the company's expectations and established itself as a global hit. He also explained that 'Frozen Mountain Path' is the largest content update since launch, aimed at both re-engaging existing players and attracting new ones.
The future operational direction for updates was also revealed. Nexon plans to maintain a schedule of two major updates per year for ARC Raiders, supplemented by ongoing small-scale updates on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
