Blizzard Entertainment has officially launched the 12.1 major content update for World of Warcraft: Midnight, titled 'Curse of Ula'tek,' on August 13. The update introduces a variety of new content, including new regions, dungeons, and system overhauls.
This update was released on August 13 (KST), revealing a new explorable area, the 'Coiled Isle,' as the fog near the eastern coast of Zul'Aman has lifted. On the Coiled Isle, the primary setting for this update, adventurers will delve into caves filled with lethal toxins and uncover the long-hidden secrets of the Amani. A new content feature called 'Lair' has also been introduced—an expansion system for outdoor boss encounters—starting with 'The Tidebound Grotto,' which functions as an outdoor challenge that scales into a 15- to 25-player instanced battle.
Additionally, a new three-boss dungeon, 'Altar of Fangs,' has been added. It is currently available on 'Mythic 0' difficulty and will be added to the 'Mythic+' rotation in line with the start of Midnight Season 2 on August 20. With the launch of Season 2, players will face eight new bosses, including the final boss 'Ula'tek,' in the new raid dungeon 'The Venomous Abyss,' alongside the updated 'Mythic+' dungeon rotation.
The update also adds the 'Arena of Glory,' 'Naldor Isle,' and a new nemesis delve, 'Venomous Falls Abyss.' Starting in Season 2, the 'Bountiful Delves' and key systems will be fully integrated. Furthermore, Season 2 of the 'Prey' and 'PVP' modes will begin simultaneously, with the latter featuring a new 'Arena vs. Bot' mode to help beginners build their skills. Quality-of-life improvements include a revamped 'Cooldown Manager' and 'Ping System,' as well as the introduction of a 'Housing' update that allows for shared indoor and outdoor design, and a new 'Pet Placement' feature.
