miHoYo has announced that it will terminate the online service for 'BSide: Olivia Lin,' an AI-powered desktop healing software currently available in Early Access on Steam. The decision comes just about a month after its July 13 launch, with miHoYo transitioning the software to an offline version that excludes online-dependent features.

'BSide: Olivia Lin' is a desktop application that allows users to interact through music and letters with 'Olivia Lin,' a character from Shanghai who majors in piano and minors in psychology. Unlike miHoYo's typical anime-style games, the software features near-photorealistic graphics and utilizes generative AI to facilitate interactions such as letter writing and musical experiences. It was released as a free Early Access title on Steam on July 13.

miHoYo provided a service termination schedule in an official notice. An offline version will be released on August 27 at 3:00 PM (Shanghai time; 4:00 PM KST), at which point features relying on online services, such as 'letter writing' and 'MIDI uploading,' will be disabled. Subsequently, the software will be removed from the Steam store and the servers will be officially shut down on August 31 at 3:00 PM (Shanghai time; 4:00 PM KST).

Even after the server shutdown, the offline version will allow users to listen to the character's performances and use the desktop dynamic wallpaper feature locally. However, users must download and install the offline version from Steam before 3:00 PM on August 31. miHoYo also advised users to back up their data before the deadline, as previously written letters, MIDI files, and the music library will not be accessible after the servers are closed.

'BSide: Olivia Lin' is currently available as a free Early Access title on PC (Steam), though the store page is only accessible in certain regions, including China.

The specific schedule is as follows:
1. On August 27, 2026, at 15:00, the offline version will be released, and features dependent on online services, such as 'letter writing' and 'MIDI uploading,' will be discontinued.
2. On August 31, 2026, at 15:00, the title will be removed from the Steam Shop, and the servers will be officially shut down.
