Nexon has officially begun domestic publishing for Blizzard Entertainment's PC game Overwatch, launching the Season 4 update, which features a new hero and extensive Korea-exclusive content.

On the 12nd, Nexon (co-CEOs Kang Dae-hyun and Kim Jung-wook) announced the official domestic launch of the PC game Overwatch, developed by Blizzard Entertainment under President Johanna Faries, alongside the start of Season 4. Leveraging its expertise in live operations tailored to the Korean market, Nexon has made the game accessible not only via the existing Battle.net launcher but also through Nexon.com and Nexon Plug. All users who link their accounts will receive five 'Legend Loot Chests' and three cosmetic items, including a 'Nexon Mari' profile card, a player icon, and a title. Those who completed pre-linking by the 11st can also earn a 'Nexon Legend Loot Chest' containing 20 'Mythic Prisms' and four Legend skins.

The 'Heroes of Busan' Season 4 update introduces a variety of new content. First, 'D.Mon,' the second Korean tank hero, has joined the battlefield. As the leader of the 'MEKA' squad defending South Korea against the 'Omnic' threat, she pilots her custom mech, 'Beast,' and engages in melee-focused combat using a plasma sword and shield. In line with the new storyline involving an invasion by the Junkertown faction, the EMP structures on the 'Busan' map have been removed and replaced with a mineral spring and digital billboards that capture the unique atmosphere of Korea. The 'Paraíso' and 'Eichenwalde' maps have also received visual refreshes.

The 'Shooting Star My MEKA Mania' event has also launched, allowing players to view detailed information about the five squad members and participate in a vote. By completing in-game quests through September 2, players can collect voting tickets to support their favorite hero among 'D.Mon,' 'D.Va,' 'Casino,' 'Overlord,' and 'King.' Reaching the maximum popularity threshold unlocks hidden behind-the-scenes stories for that squad member. Significant quality-of-life improvements have also been implemented, such as a feature that constantly displays the number of surviving team members to help players track the battlefield situation, and a glowing effect on health bars when healing allies.

A variety of Korea-exclusive events have been prepared to celebrate the domestic launch and update. A 'First Login Surprise' event runs through August 23, granting 60 'Mythic Prisms' just for logging into Overwatch via Nexon. Through September 15, daily logins will provide 'Watch Points,' 'Mythic Prisms,' and 'Credits.' Participating in a survey designed as a direct interaction with 'D.Va' will reward players with a 'MEKA Player Icon,' a 'Fresh Busan Base' profile card, and 'Watch Points.' Collected points can be exchanged for 'Mythic Prisms' or 'Legend Loot Chests' in the dedicated in-game 'D.Va's Exchange Center,' or used to enter raffles for physical prizes like desk mats and gaming gear.

Additionally, a match prediction event for the official esports tournament, the Overwatch World Cup (OWWC), will run from the 14th to the 19th. Predicting the results of the OWWC Busan Group Stage matches, held at the Busan Esports Arena on the 20th, will earn all participants a 'D.Mon Cinema Buddy' spray, with Legend-grade items and 'Esports Loot Chests' awarded for correct predictions.

Meanwhile, Nexon will host a large-scale offline event, 'Overwatch Day,' at BEXCO in Busan on the 22nd and 23rd. Attendees who completed pre-registration via the official website will receive 10k Nexon Cash on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as a limited-edition 'D.Mon' poster illustrated by Bobby Kim of the Blizzard Korea studio art team.
