Hanwha Life Esports delivered a dominant performance against CBLoL's LOUD in their opening match of the EWC 2026, currently underway in Paris. Securing a victory in just 19 minutes, Hanwha Life proved exactly why they are considered a powerhouse, even after a grueling schedule that saw them depart for Paris the day after their MSI championship win.
Below is the full interview with Hanwha Life Esports' Lee 'Gumayusi' Min-hyeong.

Q. How do you feel after that 19-minute victory?
It was our first match at the EWC amidst a busy schedule, so I'm happy we were able to perform better than expected and secure a clean win.
Q. I understand you left for Paris the day after winning MSI?
We caught a 10 a.m. flight to Paris the day after the MSI finals. To help with jet lag, I stayed up all night after the win before leaving, so I'm in the process of adjusting now.
Q. You have many fond memories of Paris. How does it feel to be back after two years?
I definitely have a lot of great memories here. If I have time after the tournament, I'd love to visit the Eiffel Tower again.
Q. The EWC is massive. What does this tournament mean to you?
With so many different games and such high-caliber teams participating in LoL, I think it's a tournament that truly lives up to the name 'Esports World Cup.
Q. How much do you want to win this EWC?
When I first joined Hanwha Life, I saw the trophy cabinet, and there was quite a bit of empty space. It would be great to fill it with at least one more trophy.
Q. After winning MSI last week, many teams are wary of Hanwha Life. Do you have a warning for your competitors?
I think the MSI trophy itself is the warning.
Q. The Asian Games are scheduled for September. You seem to be one of the busiest players this year?
Managing my physical condition is key. Eating well, sleeping well, and exercising occasionally is the best way to go.
Q. What do the Asian Games mean to you?
I've really wanted to compete in the Asian Games for a long time. I'm honored to have the opportunity this year, and I want to repay that with a gold medal.
Q. Winning twice would qualify you for a pension. Are you interested in that?
I plan to work hard until 2030, so if the opportunity arises again, I'll definitely go for it.
