On the 25th, Kakao Games launched the official teaser page for its new 2.5D MMORPG, 'Dokkaebi World,' offering a glimpse into its K-fantasy universe.
The teaser page, rendered in dreamlike colors, features a massive sacred tree surrounded by various characters and creatures from folklore. Elements inspired by traditional Korean culture are woven throughout, providing a preview of the unique world-building that defines the Korean-inspired aesthetic of 'Dokkaebi World.'

The artwork reinterpreting the title 'Dokkaebi World' in the style of 'Munjado' (traditional Korean folk painting featuring characters) is particularly eye-catching. Each character incorporates elements like game characters, monsters, and backgrounds into a single composition, showcasing a distinct visual appeal that reimagines traditional Korean art styles with a unique, modern flair.
The monsters featured on the teaser page are also based on Korean folklore. Creatures from legends are placed throughout, including a giant beast reminiscent of a red tiger, a Dokkaebi wielding a mace, a fox wreathed in flames, and spirits transformed from insects and animals. By prioritizing these creatures born from Korean imagination over the familiar races of Western fantasy, the game establishes its own distinct identity.
The character designs naturally incorporate traditional Korean elements, such as costumes reminiscent of hanbok ribbons and dapo (traditional robes), as well as topknots and traditional accessories. These traditional materials are interpreted with a modern sensibility to enhance the cohesion of the game's world.

The main screen reveals a grand space set against the backdrop of a traditional Korean fortress gate. In a village where castle walls, pavilions, and tiled roofs harmonize, residents are seen playing instruments, dancing, and enjoying a festival, reflecting a Korean sensibility through the depiction of a communal life.
Spiritual entities reminiscent of white butterflies, will-o'-the-wisps, and ghosts are scattered throughout the environment. By weaving various elements that symbolize souls and mystical beings from Korean folklore into the game, the developers have built a unique 'K-fantasy' world—a realm where humans, goblins, and spirits coexist.
A Kakao Games representative stated, "'Dokkaebi World' focuses on a modern reinterpretation of the unique charm inherent in Korean culture," adding, "As this teaser page marks our first reveal, we plan to continue communicating with users by sequentially unveiling more of the game's world and content."
