DJI has launched the 'Osmo Pocket 4P,' its new pocket-sized gimbal camera. This is DJI's first dual-lens pocket gimbal, featuring both a wide-angle camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a medium-telephoto camera with a 60mm equivalent focal length. Designed to handle both landscape and portrait photography in a single device, it supports up to 17 stops of dynamic range and a 10-bit D-Log 2 color profile to enhance post-production flexibility.
The wide-angle camera features a 20mm equivalent focal length and an f/2 aperture, supporting video recording at up to 4K 240FPS. DJI explained that it has incorporated LOFIC technology to ensure detail is preserved even in high-contrast environments. The accompanying medium-telephoto camera offers a 60mm equivalent focal length and an f/1.8 aperture, supporting 3x optical zoom and up to 12x digital zoom.
Video production capabilities have also been enhanced. The Osmo Pocket 4P supports up to 4K 240FPS slow-motion recording and slow-shutter video, allowing for a wider range of creative expression. The 10-bit D-Log 2 color profile expands the scope for color grading, and the device also offers up to 37MP photo capture and a 4K Live Photo feature. Live Photo saves a short video clip of approximately 1.5 seconds along with the still image.
New features have been added to improve shooting convenience. The device is equipped with a 3-axis mechanical gimbal and ActiveTrack 8, which can automatically track people, vehicles, and pets. The auto-framing feature keeps multiple subjects centered in the frame, and users can activate tracking or start recording using gestures such as a palm or V-sign. It also supports a quick-start feature where rotating the screen powers on the device and begins recording immediately.
Usability has also been improved. With support for the USB 3.1 interface, the device offers wired transfer speeds of up to 800MB/s, allowing for the rapid transfer of large video files. The battery can be charged to 80% in approximately 18 minutes and provides up to 210 minutes of use on a full charge.
DJI also announced that the Osmo Pocket 4P is compatible with a variety of Osmo accessories. Supported items include a dedicated fill light, black mist filter, ND filter set, wide-angle lens, battery handle, mini tripod, and the OsmoAudio microphone, with some accessories sold separately depending on the product.
The Osmo Pocket 4P is now available through the DJI Store and official retailers. It is released in two colors: Classic Black and Pearl White.
