The final list of candidates for the South Korean national League of Legends team to compete in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games has been announced. Barring any major changes, Choi 'Zeus' Woo-je, Kim 'Canyon' Geon-bu, Kim 'Zeka' Geon-woo, Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok, Lee 'Gumayusi' Min-hyeong, and Ryu 'Keria' Min-seok will compete for the gold medal under the leadership of head coach Kang Dong-hoon.
Among the six final candidates, 'Zeus', 'Faker', and 'Keria' were members of the gold medal-winning team at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. At that time, alongside Seo 'Kanavi' Jin-hyeok, Jung 'Chovy' Ji-hun, and Park 'Ruler' Jae-hyuk, they achieved a perfect victory without dropping a single set, earning them the reputation of being the 'greatest roster of all time.
'Canyon', 'Zeka', and 'Gumayusi' will be representing South Korea for the first time at these Asian Games. There was significant interest in who would fill the mid and bottom lane spots, and these players secured their places on Team Kang Dong-hoon after outperforming strong competitors, including top candidates like 'Chovy' and LPL-based player Park 'Viper' Do-hyeon.
According to the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA), which oversees the national team selection, the criteria were based on regional regular leagues, the KeSPA Cup, and the World Championship held over the past two years, starting from 2024. International tournaments such as MSI, FST, and EWC were excluded, and the 2026 regional regular season included rounds available for review based on the entry submission deadline.
A preliminary entry list was narrowed down using league and tournament performance metrics alongside individual awards, followed by a final review of individual statistics to complete the candidate list. Individual metrics include: #1 KDA, #2 average solo kills, #3 KP (kill participation), #4 number of unique champions played, #5 DMG% (damage share), #6 DPM (damage per minute), #7 DPG (damage per gold), #8 GDPM (gold per minute), #9 14CSD (CS difference at 14 minutes), #10 14DPG (damage per gold at 14 minutes), #11 TeamGold, #12 TeamDMG, and #13 vision score. Specific role-based metrics include: for Junglers (#14 first blood contribution rate, #15 enemy jungle entry time, #16 counter-jungle CS), for Bottom laners (#17 duo proximity rate), and for Supporters (#18 duo proximity rate, #19 jungle proximity rate).
