Blizzard Entertainment's strategy card game, Hearthstone, has introduced its first-ever 'Class Set,' titled 'The Restoration of Azeroth,' with the 35.4 patch. Unlike traditional mini-sets that add a small number of cards to every class, a Class Set focuses on four classes at a time, introducing a larger volume of impactful new cards. These sets are scheduled to be released three times a year, with four classes featured in each release.
The 'Restoration of Azeroth' Class Set features cards for four classes: Druid, Hunter, Paladin, and Mage. The Druid set is based on a playstyle of healing Azeroth by restoring damaged ecosystems. It combines spells and minions suited for long games, including cards like 'Wizened Wildspeaker,' which rewards players for not playing minions for a turn, allowing for explosive power and sustained healing in the late game.
The Hunter class contributes to the recovery of Azeroth by forming bonds with animals that have lost their habitats. Using 'Tame Pet,' players can evolve their beast companions into increasingly dangerous and powerful entities, building a formidable force for the late game.
The Paladin class focuses on rebuilding communities and restoring order, with an emphasis on strengthening 'Silver Hand Recruits' to create a powerful army. Strategies include filling the board with 'Muster for Battle,' buffing units with 'Emboldening Blade,' and pushing the offensive with 'Arator the Redeemer.
The Mage class is tasked with stabilizing broken 'Leylines' and controlling magical energy. New 'Leyline' spells have been added that grow stronger over time, and new cards help increase their power, reduce their costs, or trigger them multiple times, enabling long-term strategic planning.
Individual Class Sets can be obtained by opening Cataclysm packs or by crafting them with Arcane Dust. Four additional new Class Sets are scheduled to be released throughout this year, following each expansion launch.
